Merchandise Management

Merchandise Management underpins retail success. The right product mix and price points dovetail with great logistics to underpin great customer service.

Retail Directions’ Platform has a range of facilities to help retailers manage stock items and handle them through their life cycle.

Item management

Users can register items of varying level of complexity within the Platform, from simple SKUs to complex apparel styles with multiple colours, sizes, and attributes. Items can be ordered, ranged, priced, marked down and included in promotional offers. Items can be bar-coded and ticketed in a variety of ways, including in-house codes.

Pricing

The Platform allows users to manage various price types: regular, markdown, special and the first margin price.

Price changes can be set up well in advance, with the ability to automatically revert from special prices to the regular price after promotions end. Prices are sent to the affected stores following profit impact analysis and approval by an authorised member of Head Office staff. Multiple pricing zones, in multiple currencies and various tax jurisdictions, can be configured, to support international operations. Store-level pricing can also be used, to override zone prices for more targeted price management if required for the local market.

Promotions

Retail Directions Platform empowers users to set up and execute practically any type of retail promotion. A retailer’s imagination is unlikely to exceed what the system can do. Promotions work across online as well as bricks and mortar stores, providing a unified offer to customers across all channels. To the best of our knowledge, no other enterprise-level retail system can provide such rich functionality – a powerful Promotional Engine that can be used within the stores, in the Head Office, and online.

The Promotional Engine uses rule-based calculations to support coupons, various customer types, multi-tier loyalty points, percentage-off promotions, dollars-off promotions, tiered pricing, tender-related discounts, third-party beneficiaries (charities) and more. You can expect that our Platform can execute whatever promotional deal your marketers create.

Planning and analytics

Once the stock is on offer, sales and stock performance tracking become the next important step in the merchandise management process.

Retail Directions Platform includes a range of reports and interactive tools for live monitoring of sales, gross profit and stock performance.

Our budgeting module helps users create and manage store sales and profit budgets using a three-dimensional spreadsheet, to cater for the individual stores, by product group, for each trading week. Once approved, the sales budgets flow into merchandise budgets and provide the base for weekly, daily and hourly sales budgets used in the stores, for executive reports, and for smartphone executive enquires when on the road.
